neighborhood. Use this blog to voice your opinion and ask questions, see how others train for a 5k, marathon, road cycling races, open water swim, triathlons and duathlons. Don’t know what to eat during your training run or bike? Share your eating and drinking habits with others; find out what works for others and for you. Have questions or comments about a race? Post them here and get feedback. Publish your training runs, rides and swim practices and make friends and have fun while training. If you are a race director, publish your race here and we’ll add it to our race calendar on our website, too. It is all free for

Since the official launch of the popular website www.getactivetampa.com in October 2007, we have been thinking of ways to connect you with other runners, cyclists, swimmers, triathletes and other endurance sports fans in the Tampa Bay area. Hence the birth of our blog.
Our author of the blog and webmaster for the website, Stella Valitutto, does not like to talk about herself but finds that a little background information about her and the idea behind the website and the blog is probably necessary.
Stella has been a runner since the early 90’s (please don’t give away her age) and has just taken up the exciting sport of triathlon a few years ago. Running is her specialty but she struggles to float and move forward in the water! Nevertheless, she is still having tons of fun whether she is on foot, on her bike or in the water (maybe a little less fun while wet). All the while, she meets people who share her passion in the sports and makes great friends. Having a good race is just the icing on the cake. When she first started training for triathlons, she finds it time consuming to navigate through many websites to find specific training and racing information in the Tampa Bay area on the 3 disciplines of triathlon (well, she is a woman with 3 cats, a big kid that she is married to and a full time job… so she is pretty darn busy!). So she decided to research everything there is to know about running, swimming, cycling and multisports in the Tampa Bay area and puts it all together for friends who are looking for the same.
Since the official launch of the website www.getactivetampa.com, Stella has been receiving a lot of positive feedback and suggestions from runner, swimmers, cyclists and triathletes. There are now a couple hundred subscribers to the website’s newsletter and the community is growing!! She has interviewed people in the multisports community from swim coach, bike mechanic to a professional cyclist and is meeting new people everyday. You might think that she has already accomplished quite a bit but she is far from finish. One of her goals is to provide resources on Tampa Bay specific running, swimming, cycling, triathlons, nutrition and other endurance sports related information to those that share her passion in one conveniently located website. She also feels that peer support and encouragement are vital to endurance athletes. This blog will bring athletes to one place where they can share their philosophies, form their own training groups, express their views and help better the world of endurance sports.
